|
|
Hiya
had several new users that just downloaded manor software and they can't wear avatars at my place from start, no 30 day trial it seems. From what I can understand so far this might be a Mac issue, but not sure, two of them were on Mac at least.
Is this deliberate or a bug, Scotsman?
Regards,

Yes I got rid of the 30 day trial in the client as it was just causing to much confusion (oh, I can't use the software after 30 days without paying??).
I'm going to be adding a free reg code of some duration to the community pages. i.e. sign up on the community pages and get your free reg. |

Good to know that...
And I hope you make something that enable them to wear props soon.
It is hard enough as is with them getting the news about ...oh btw, you have to pay.
Otherwise influx is getting up, so......

I find it fascinating after all those long and multiple meetings about how to build the community.
The big issues were:
The correct trail period for newbies. (eliminate any trial)
The isolation of the Adult Manors. (never solved )
A common portal for all newbies. (remains Main) _________________ RL..now with 100% less lag! |

whoa, if we were post 1.0 I'd say I deserved to get my chops busted, but we're not. I'm working as quickly as I can, but it takes a bit.
As to "isolating" the adult sites, I don't see how you figure. It's a matter of choice, and WDD and DD don't seem to be having much trouble attracting people since they are the most popular sites. But in case you missed it, you might want to read MySpace may face legislative crackdown. Once you get through all the BS, it boils down to congress has decided it needs a scape goat and we're all it. So no, I'm not going to hang my touch out in the breeze for them to cut off.
Yes, the default drop point for new users is Main. Until there is an in browser client (yeah I'm thinking about the J word *shudder*) it will be Main.
Yes we're seeing increasing user numbers, primarilly because Ami Mercury and Studio 12 have been manning the gate at Main helping Gehoo out of late. I'm probably going to get in a bunch of trouble for this one, but dangit, bottom line. Gehoo's health has been poor for awhile now and the Dr's don't see it getting any better for the foreseable future. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you Ami and Studio for all the help. |

Sorry if I sound like I am busting your chops. It’s just me.
However, after all these years the promotion of Manor is not code or feature issues. New people have a hard time getting a feel for a visual chat with no trial at all....
ok ok "then go buy a cup Bri.".
The correct way for an application’s first start is to a short tutorial, a practice room and then a directory. Add some sizzle to the steak.
I know the legislative subject very well and that the web is mostly trash.
Does that mean Firefox or MSIE will be burned at the stake?
Believe it or not some chose adult just to converse with adults. Unless I missed it, there are many choices for Manors..but only one Adult, once discovered if they do. _________________ RL..now with 100% less lag! |

noo, there isn't many different choices of Manor anymore. There's just three levels, Strict Filtering, Moderate Filtering, and no filtering. |

that would be good , if u think explaining about after the trial was confusing, its even more confusing now, and they cant even see whats it like to be able to wear props, i know its all prolly part of a bigger picture but at the moment its losing prospective users and we cannot afford that, new users need the incentive to register
no time to lose on this one i think (imho)

p.s. yes i do know we can get green mug status, but....but...but.....i'm paying my reg fee and hosting fees, i should also pay for others to have the priviledge of wearing av's, i think not ( making the things is headache enough ty not a dig at editor btw just my own inability to make props that dont look like they need plastic surgery in a hurry
Jade( MP) ok i'll shut up now |

Umm, Jade, not to nit pick, but umm, you do know the green mugs went away awhile ago? And have you tried the new editor yet? It's got some glitches yet, but it does have zoom and other handy things. |

Not trying to throw cold water ..but after working with it for hours.
The Edit tools are hell to use because of a variable X offset. That can trash a pet prop fast and make the user very upset. I can tolerate an exception crash but tool stabilty has to be fixed if you expect to edit inside the client. On prop right side I can walk it in and figure where an erase or pen will happen.. On prop left you can't walk it in. Surely there is a method to get the tools at mouse position.
example .. (Ctrl pen) tool would not screen cap, marked as x

ran into that bug myself last night. It appears to be related to a combination of the zoom and scroll bars. Working on sorting it out. |

While you are in there. Users will do 160's..hence.
Why not set the default window size at that?
Here is a centered 160, which can confuse we Twits.
or
example 160 import png.

my apologies, emmm no this nit did not notice that green mugs went awhile ago, yep i have tried editor and while other more experienced users have explained it better, it is indeed easier to use than taping down the ctrl key which was my only option before( and forgetting to remove it when done ) causing all sorts of confusion not your fault i know but yes it is easier.
