So I mentioned earlier Manor worked on Vista. That is true. However, it crashes when I close it and also will not download room images.

Check the security settings etc. Hinoko-chan is running Manor on Vista on her laptop with out any problems.

It's going to be a bit before I can afford a Vista machine myself btw so will probably be having to ask alot of questions to get any issues sorted out.

I'll send you a copy if you want. I get a good discount on software at work.

True that. My Vista machine has 1GB of RAM and a Core 2 Duo. It takes up an obnoxious amount of hard drive space too. I will admit I do like Vista a lot. Oddly enough I tried that beta 8a and it works a lot better than beta 9 on Vista.

I think they changed a lot with the TCP/IP sockets in Vista too because my download speeds have gone from 300KB/sec to 450-550KB/sec. Plus, when I run BitTorrent it no longer lags everything else. I'd say this is the first successful launch of a consumer Windows product (Windows 2000 was better but normal people never ran that). I personally don't think its accurate when people say "Nothing works with VIsta so I want XP." Of course things do work 100% with Vista. It's only 2 months old! When XP came out my NVidia drivers didn't work for 6 months. My GeForce 7900 works like a champ on Vista Wink

Anyway, I also wanted to mention that Phalanx doesn't work on Vista but even more interesting is that Palace 3.5 still works fine. How odd is that? What version of Vista is she running? I've got Home Premium.

I run Ultimate in 32 and have had no issues with Manor since the RC1 release last year.

There's a compatibility wizard buried deep within Windows Vista. Vista convinces native Windows XP applications that they're running on Windows XP. The wizard allows you to tweak the display resolution and emulate Windows 98 for the old diehards on pally.

re security; If Manor acts up try Access Credential Manager as a trusted caller;
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment

Vista also includes a built-in two-way firewall and Defender antispyware which may need an eye review for issues.

Any problematic apps can use ACT 5.0 to assess and seek to resolve application compatibility problems. Available dl from MS.

note:
Windows Vista protects %systemroot% files and folders with permissions designed for Windows Resource Protection (WRP), which can only be accessed by the System service. Administrators can read system files and folders but cannot write to them. This differs from previous versions of Windows.

Ciao
