Chess Tournament at Mount Pelion
starting Sunday 14th Oct. 2PM EST
Participants have to sign up for tournament no later than friday 12th Oct.
You can sign up by replying here or contact staff at MP.
The tournament will use the Swiss system for first round. That means that everybody will play once against everybody else, that will be broken up in simultainious plays for 2-3-4 rooms at same time depending on number of participants. Here are two examples:
6 players (3 rooms):
1. play: A-B, C-D, E-F
2. play: A-C, B-F, D-E
3. play: A-D, B-E, C-F
4. play: A-E, B-C, D-F
5. play: A-F, B-D, C-E
7 players (3 rooms):
1. play: A-B, C-D, E-F (G waits)
2. play: A-C, B-D, E-G (F waits)
3. play: A-D, B-C, F-G (E waits)
4. play: A-E, B-F, C-G (D waits)
5. play: A-F, B-E, D-G (C waits)
6. play: A-G, C-E, D-F (B waits)
7. play: B-G, C-F, D-E (A waits)
For next round we will use an elimination system, but not decided yet fully, to find the Manor chess champion.
Depending on number of participants we will break the tournament up in several events.
Details:
Standard chess rules apply. You are urged to use standard notation for your moves, e.g. Qxe5.
En passant by pawns are allowed.
You may not castle if in check or any field between king and rook is threatened or king/rook has been moved previously.
Clocks will not be used, we urge participants to not take toooooo long time for a move, and we of course trust you not to use a chess computer for making your moves.
If a participant vanish in a game and doesn't show up within 10 minutes, the opponent is noted as winner.
Spectators are welcome, but please keep a low profile and do not mess with the pieces on board.
So get your little grey cells in gear and sign up for a hopefully cozy event where the action will get fierce on the board, but all for the fun. _________________ Cheiron

Just a status for chess tournament:
Due to time problems (as expected) the tournament is only half through first round and will commence on a later date.
Results so far (in alphabetical order):
Cheiron : 1 1 1
Jade : 0 0
Kang : 0 0 0
Michael : 1 0
Mimee : 1 1 0
Rawhide: 0 1 1
Also... I hope this could start a little chess club on manor where people can meet for a game now and then.. and little tournaments can be made. So if you missed signing up for this one, please drop by anyway and join the fun.
PS: and we sure had some good games I must say. _________________ Cheiron
