The Atlas Shrugged movie is out, is in one of our local theaters, and yes by god I am dragging Gehoo to see it this weekend! Smile

Seriously though, what the heck is with hollywood and the stupid critics? They really think they can keep this message from getting out by panning the movie etc??

For years I've been seeing to many parallels between the book and what the liberals are up to in this country to not think this message needs to be spread far and wide.

Ahhh, Ayn Rand.... hmmm....

I don't understand why Hollywood would try to supress the movie, as I understand you imply it does, freedom of speech is for all, no matter what standpoint, but.... to my mind it's an interesting issue cause.... would I like say... nazi propaganda, extreme communism or other antidemocracy movements?... no... so where's the limit to freedom of expression?... Heck if I know

Meanwhile, I struggle with the word "liberal" and "liberalism"....however I found an interesting link:

hehe, liberalism is the modern name for socialism. Even that links description of liberalism reads like a description of the socialist goals. (And we all know how well that's worked out, i.e. USSR, Hitler, etc).

Lest anyone miss the connection, Ayn Rand escaped Russia when the communists / socialists took over. Her writings are fictionalizations of that experience as applied to her new home. Which is why it resonates so well with what the left keeps trying to do.

As to Hollywood, they even admit to their liberal / left bias. So of course they don't want something like this to be popular as it casts a very bad light on what they want to do.

I don't get it... why are they called liberals if you say they are totalitarians???

I mean... you imply something like:

Liberals = Socialism = Communism = Stalin = Hitler ???

oh well...it's a weird world

Yes, they also call themselves "progressives" but the agenda, goals, and methods are the same.

Goal/Agenda: Big government to take care of all the little people from cradle to grave because they know best and people can't make their own decisions. Oh, with those espousing the progressive / liberal / socialist agenda in charge of course.

Favorite method: Tell a big enough lie often enough people will believe it (believe Stalin came up with that one, or maybe it was Marx, can't remember).

wikipidea says :
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it...." is regularly attributed to Joseph Goebbels. However, I have found no evidence that he said it. Everyone quotes everyone else, but no one ever gives a source.
"A lie told often enough becomes truth" Vladimir Lenin.

William James (1842-1910) The father of modern Psychology "There's nothing so absurd that if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it."

Actually Adolf Hitler said it, that's how he got many people of Nazi Germany during that time to discriminate against the Jews

But note, all those it's attributed too were none the less socialists. (Yes Hitler was a socialist too. NAZI National Socialist German Workers’ Party.).
