I have found this new Client a big improvement, it seems more stable but I have a few problems to report and wonder if others have found the same. Firstly, I have found that without any apparent reason the Manor Client just suddenly closes on me, it has happened to me three times today since using the new Client. Secondly, there seems to be problems with Avatars being shown on entry, they take a while to be displayed and some don't show at all, which means rebooting. I have cleaned my cache frequently. I have also noticed that this error is cropping up sometimes without any apparent reason : *** Exception during plugin null event processing

I had someone say that they had the same problem with avs today with the new version, ie not being able to see them, I haven't installed the new version yet to work will do that now... but they also had a problem hanging when trying to connect to a manor
Update to post... I've installed new version, it's working fine for Me.

I don't suppose these would be consistently reproducable? I should know better than thinking it might be easy to track down, but I can always hope. |

No Carl there seems little consistency, as usual the Manor shuts down at random and the av problem seems random also. However, we had a visitor whose name is Mike, he had the following error:
*** Error -43 (File Not Found) sending prop to server Traceback (most
recent call last): File "cyborg.py", line 40, in mnr_outchat File
"plugins\lib\string.py", line 121, in split return s.split(sep, maxsplit)
TypeError: expected string or Unicode object, NoneType found
*** Error -43 (File Not Found) sending prop to server
A short time after having this error, his manor closed down and he had to reboot.
I have asked him to register on the Forum so he can post his errors himself. I will continue to log any errors and closures and let you know. |

That last one almost reads like an error in his cyborg being at the root cause. Next time you see him, might see if he would be willing to pass that along so can take a look at it. |

|
|
I installed new version on a new PC the PC is 3.4Ghz and has 1 Gig of memory and 520Gigs of hard drive space running XP home.
I have found the client to be very very slow on loading rooms and at times does not load at all. The Av problem as metioned above is also prevalant on my machine. I have also noticed that copy and paste from the log compleatly locks the client up; further to this I have also found when going to a different Manor from my own or from the directory that on occations the client is again frozen/locked up'
Many errors appear in red in the log and I think will be documented by another user; I have had to reboot more times with this version than anyother.
I hope the above helps, being a user and not technical the discriptions of what is happening is sparce I know but I am sure others will be more specific in the discriptions
Many thanks for all the hard work.

Dietrich, just to eliminate possible corruption, could you clear your cache and see if that makes any difference? (There's a button in the preferences window to do that).
Lara, if his borg references a prop that isn't in his prop chest, and isn't on the server either, that could result in the -43 error when the server asks his client for it. |

I realise that Carl, but Mike uses all the standard av's in our Borg and if he had deleted one by mistake, they are certainly still on the server.
In regards to the AV problem that Dietrich speaks of, I logged the error that both he and Taluna had in their Manor, the error in both cases was :
*** Error 403 (HTTP Server: Forbidden) Downloading prop
*** Error 403 (HTTP Server: Forbidden) Downloading prop |

I have set my cache to 500 yes half a gig and it does seem to have sorted many probs out, at 500 there must be an overload somwhere I am lucky I can afford the space many others cant, i am no expert but it occurs to me the the information one has to keep in the cache is beyound reasonable, and the error checking is to say the least a bit on the heavy side it is almost as though the users/owners are all beta testing?
Hope the above helps will keep you posted.

aaahh, the 403 error I have a server side fix in the works for.
What's happening is when a new prop is uploaded to the server, the server is telling the clients it's available before it has fully flushed the file buffers and released the new file.
Dietrich, 500 meg?? holy cow. A note, the client when it starts has to walk through all those files and verify that nothing has gotten stepped on since the last time it was run. That can take some time (the initializing cache message at start is when this is happening).
Personally I run mine about 50. Guess I'll have to run it up and see what happens. |

All is well now with palacebox server.
got this from the network provider.
We greatly apologize for the inconvenience. We originally thought that it was an attack on our network. However, we traced the problem to a faulty network cable. It has been replaced and all network hardware restarted.
-Joe
A thought:
would the server playing up cause the errors we have been experiencing looking above it is only palacebox users that have posted..as I said just a thought.
