well just a little question, why is it that sometimes you freeze when logging on... then when you relog (have to force shut down manor)... your first login is still hanging there? It is an old phenomenon, I know... just curious why it does that? It vanishes after say.. 2-3 minutes or so.
Here's situation:
ahhh... another odd thing I might as well add... after my friend up there vanished, I changed room.. well this is what happened:
Now I was nowhere to be found in room!!.. and again had to shut down manor.
I don't mind talking to myself now and then, but vanishing all together is a bit extreme. _________________ Cheiron

Well of late Hub is getting the Evil Twins turning up two or three times a day.. Not the same person and can be a few at the same time.
We joke about it but it can get quite frustrating.
I would love to know what is causing this........ |

Well the reason you get that is because if you are authenticated you are allowed to have multiple simultaneous connections. As a result the server can't just bounce one of them and has to wait until it's certain the "ghost" is really unresponsive.
The TCP specs say your supposed to wait 7 minutes to make that determination, but I cut that down to 3 because if your machine hasn't responded to a ping in 3 minutes your either dead, or so lagged it doesn't matter anyway.
Course another possible cause is I've wondered about Cheiron and little voices for a long time now

Oh, the root cause of this apparent freeze btw is probably internet lag. I've been noticing a lot of the net seems to be getting hammered since the start of the holidays, not just in relation to Manor either. |

ahhhhh, I sorta figured it could MAYBE be connected with multiple connection privilege... and that lag occurs somehow that is not specially manor related (but what do I know)... so...if it is just that... not much we can do then I guess.
thanks, Scots, at least we know what it is then.
PS: in regard to me hearing voices, WE firmly deny that.
hmmm... another odd thing:

Amen to bad hops and the holidays..
We use technique like this often and I never know when the room will kick in.
Code: | manor.fetchSound("http://manor.ippy.us/music/sbellss.wav", startAnim1, 0)
|
So that lil snippet may geographically be :
a music feed from Texas,
triggering a web cam in Germany
being put together by some geek in Oregon's client.
you count the total hops _________________ RL..now with 100% less lag! |
