At the risk of sounding totally ignorant and inordinately dumb, could I ask someone very sweetly to give me a comprehensive "walk through" on how to load the songlist in a manor?
M gave me this task some time last year, and I'm only just now getting around to asking here in the comm pages.
I would need something like a step-by-step, and it would have to be for a Mac since M and I are Mac users.
That being said, if all I can get my hands on are PC instructions, I'll take those too. At least then I can have something to work with.
Thanks!!!

Try the Music Loader room at The Barn.. If you need more, then message me here and I'll clarify the steps.
the script sits in a Manor room
the playlist is in your Media folder
the tunes are in your web access area. (http)fetch
Ohhh I just noticed you are a Mac.. the whole concept may fall apart
I don't think Mac's on Manor can do the MP3 and WAV/MP3 formats.
Perhaps a media conscious Mac'r can contribute a method. _________________ RL..now with 100% less lag! |

That's correct Bri, the Mac client can't handle the MP3 format. It can handle most everything else but MP3 on the Mac has eluded me. |

So Apple lies?
Let QuickTime do the heavy lifting so you can focus on the rest.

Does this mean I can't load a songlist into M's manor cuz I'm a Mac user?
Think of me as that silly ole kid that used to follow you everywhere who always asked questions and bring your answers down to that level.

All the step instructions in the zip file apply .. Mac or PC.
The issue is not the playlist or the python it is only the music file format. Your suggestion of using an iTunes format is great but I don't believe Manor handles those formats.
My suggestion is to either get a Mac user to tell you the format for your Mac or experiment with a single file in a test room until you discover the format.
Start with PCM 16 bit stereo .. u-law works with noise effects, I know. _________________ RL..now with 100% less lag! |

There is a new room in the Barn (Mac Music Test) try the samples.
The name of the song in your log will tell you which file format you have selected. Hopefully a few will play for you. The PCM file size may be an issue. _________________ RL..now with 100% less lag! |

excuse me but... there is a script that works for both Mac and PC and which can handle the usual compressed MP3 with a wav header... only difference is that for mac users it triggers their webbrowser to play it.
I tested it on several Mac users and they said it worked, you can see if it works for you chee at MP at least, cause I installed it there in all rooms that has music enabled.
As I recall LongFang or Lisa made it. (and many thanks for that)
But of course if the issue is about Mac's can't make MP3 files with a wav header (which I strongly doubt they would have a problem with given the right program)...well that is something I know nuttin about. _________________ Cheiron

Thanks for that info,
The Barn has the latest rev of Lisa's juke script. The example room uses that script but the media is a mixed bag of formats to allow the builder to choose which format suits their needs.
One of the choices is a RIFF header mp3 format, which is the classic PC music format used on Palace and Manor. _________________ RL..now with 100% less lag! |
